  2. Nicholas & Mahala Carter Young family
    This photo was probably taken in the early 1900s. In Nicholas Young's letter dated June 20, 1902 (see letter page 1, page 2, page 3), he invites his daughter Lucretia and son-in-law Henry to Linn, MO to have a family photo taken. This photographer's stamp on this photo indicates that this photo was taken in Linn. However, Lucretia's husband Henry is the only in-law in the photo. If the photo was in fact taken in or after Nicholas' 1902 letter, then Lora Carwile (Thomas' wife) should have also been photographed. Thomas and Lora were married in 1901. So, either Lora was not photographed for some reason, or the photo was taken prior to Lora and Thomas' 1901 marriage, and consequently could not be the photograph mentioned in Nicholas' letter.

    This photo appears to have been mislabeled. Annie Young Owens had a father and an uncle by the same name (Nicholas Young). We know that this image is NOT of her Uncle Nicholas.
