Nicholas Young's Letters
Nicholas Young wrote letters to his daughter Lucretia Ann Young and her husband Henry McGinnis. The letters were written between 1892 and 1910. Nicholas and Mahala Carter Young farmed in Osage County, Missouri. Lucretia and Henry resided in the neighboring county of Gasconade, Missouri. These letters were preserved by Nicholas' daughter Estella and handed down to her great granddaughter (see contributors).
Valuable genealogical information is related in Nicholas' letters. Nicholas frequently mentions his other children: Thomas, Maggie Stella/Estella, and Cordelia May (see family group sheet). He also mentions his daughter-in-law Lora (Lora E. Carwile Young), wife of his son Thomas. Nicholas also mentions his siblings, neices, and nephews. He mentions some people whom I have yet to identify. If you can identify these individuals or know how they fit in, please contact me. When needed, I have provided links to additional contextual information.
