Letters written by Mae Young
Mae Young was the daughter of Nicholas Young's brother Thomas Young and his wife Caroline Keiffer Young. Thomas and his family lived in New Orleans, Louisiana (family group sheet). Mae never married, and she was the very last member of her family to die (see Mae's obituary).
My mother has a photograph of Nicholas Young with what is believed to be the family of Thomas and Caroline Keiffer Young (see photo).
Mae wrote letters to her cousins in Missouri. She corresponded with Nicholas Young's daughters Estella Young Carwile and Maggie Young Duncan. Those letters have been preserved (see contributors) and are linked below on this page.
Mae Young provides such wonderful details about Nicholas Young's relatives. Mae mentions her siblings Peter, George, and Carrie (family group sheet). She mentions her only nephew, Thomas, and his wife Dorothy (family group sheet). She mentions her brother George and his wife Jeanette (family group sheet). She frequently mentions another cousin Annie Owens.
To assist the reader in understanding the context of Mae's letters, I have provided links to additional information when necessary.
